Bullying: Types and Sources of Support

We have a new section on our website for Parents of children being bullied - http://www.askwiltshire.org/info-centre/family-issues/bullying/.

Bullying can take many different forms and can take place in school, travelling to and from school and even in the local neighbourhood. Bullying can be seen as:
'any behaviour by an individual or group, usually repeated over time, that intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally'

Bullying can result in the victim having a low self esteem, poor school performance, depression, increased feelings of isolation, even thoughts of self-harm. Bullying is not just a problem for a minority of children; it is a widespread problem that can upset and disrupt a child's emotional, physical and intellectual development.

Our website explores the types of bullying, what to do and sources of support. If you dont find what you are looking for then our helpline would be delighted to take your call: 08457 585072 - open weekdays 8am to 6pm.
